Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Did you know that some of your neighbors have volunteered to become members of a local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)?

A CERT operates under the federal guidelines provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As volunteer first responders with the South Lake County Regional CERT (SLCR CERT), we work directly with the Fire and Police Departments of Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, Lake Zurich and Long Grove, Illinois in support of emergency and non-emergency events.

All of our members are trained in First Aid and medical triage, CPR, fire suppression, search and rescue, damage assessment, traffic control, and use of CERT equipment. Since its inception in 2006 our CERT, a 501(c)(3) organization, has been called out to assist with train derailments, structure fires, major traffic accidents and directing traffic, missing persons, natural disasters, and community events.
