Founded in 2006, South Lake County Regional Community Emergency Response Team (SLCR CERT) is an ALL-VOUNTEER charitable not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides emergency support services to supplement the first responders (Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works) of Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods, Long Grove, Kildeer, Deer Park, and Ela Township during emergency and non-emergency events.
SLCR CERT’s 50+ members are extensively trained in First Aid, CPR, Triage, Search and Rescue, Traffic Control, Disaster Assessment, and more! CERT is mobilized 24x7 to support and supplement local police, fire, emergency medical (EMS, EMA), and public works capabilities in emergency and non-emergency situations.
CERT is a nationally recognized volunteer program under FEMA since 1993. There are now CERT programs in all 50 states, including many tribal nations and U.S. territories. Each is unique to its community, and all are essential to building a Culture of Preparedness in the United States. The National CERT Association offers educational topics that all volunteers are required to complete.
Skills are learned and practiced to assist our communities with their needs. Visit Ready.gov/CERT to learn more about how each person can take steps towards preparation.
